Valkyrie
Valkyrie takes the natural higher defense of a Lancer's armor and adds several abilities to help keep it alive while protecting teammates. Like Lancer, Valkyrie's main stat is STR. Unlike Lancer or Dragoon, Valkyrie gains access to the "Fending" set of armor.
The core mechanic of a Valkyrie is gaining and spending a stackable buff called Einherjar. Each held Einherjar passively increases enmity accrued from all actions taken. Einherjar are stackable up to 5, but a stack of 4 is sufficient to match the enmity gain of stances like Shield Oath, Grit, or Defiance. Einherjar are gained hitting targets with the conal ability Reginleif or Comboing the weaponskill Psychopomp after True Thrust. Additionally, using the ability Herfjotr grants a full stack of 5 Einherjar instantly. Several abilities use one or more Einherjar at a time to grant bonuses to the Valkyrie: Eir uses 1 Einherjar to produce a decoy that absorbs enemy attacks. Randgrid uses all Einherjar to produce a strong shield effect, the strength of which varies depending on how many Einherjar were used. Sanngrithr uses 1 Einherjar to double the damage of your next weaponskill. Lastly, Galgvithr uses all Einherjar to perform a devastating attack. Valkyrie also gets a healing skill in the form of Ithunn, whose strength increases with held Einherjar, but does not spend them. The main combos that a Valkyrie will probably use are: True Thrust > Psychopomp > Warding Thrust (gain 1 Einherjar and reduce damage taken by 10%) Impulse Drive > Disembowel > Radiant Thrust (reduce target's piercing resistance and damage dealt each by 10%)
